Is getting married online legal?

As of 2020, getting married online is 100% legal in the United States through the state of Utah. This means that people from all over the world can get married without having to physically be in the same location.

Who can use VirtuVows?

Any consenting adult who is 1) 18 or older, 2) not currently married, and 3) hasn’t been divorced in the last 60 days. All you need is a valid government ID, a webcam, stable internet connection, and 2 witnesses for the ceremony (over 18 years old).

Which state issues the marriage certificate?

The marriage certificate is issued from the state of Utah and it is recognized and legal in all 50 states of the United States.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

100% refund: You can request a full refund if you have canceled your ceremony with more than 24 hours notice before your ceremony takes place.

50% refund: You can request a 50% refund if you have canceled your ceremony less than 24 hours before it is scheduled to take place.

No Refund: if your officiant completed the ceremony, you won't be eligible for a refund.

If you don't show up to the online ceremony without prior notification and don't email us or let us know before the scheduled event, you won't be eligible for a refund.

How soon can we get married?

Couples get married typically in 2 to 3 days after signing up. If you need to get married within 24 hours, we offer Rush Order! To request a ceremony within 24-hr notice, please contact our dedicated customer service team.

Do my partner and I have to be in the same location?

Nope! We have successfully and legally married thousands of couples who are in different countries and thousands of miles away from each other.

Do my partner and I have to be in the same location?

if you are using your wedding certificate outside the US, you almost certainly will need one. An Apostille is a form of authentication that is recognized internationally and is used to certify the validity of public documents.

However, it is important to note that not all countries accept apostilled documents. Each country has its own requirements and regulations regarding the acceptance of foreign documents. Therefore, it is advisable to check with the officials in your area to determine whether an Apostille is necessary for your specific situation.
